FreeState Electric Cooperative invests in our youth with opportunities that are designed to reflect the realities of our society and its preference for dynamic, personal interactions. FreeState sponsors statewide programs to build leadership characteristics that will benefit area youth. These opportunities build self-awareness, friendships, career goals, and inspire youth to step outside their safety net and push themselves to grow.
FreeState will sponsor four youth program trips in 2020.
Two students will have an opportunity to visit Washington, D.C. in June, and two students will experience Steamboat Springs, CO at Cooperative Leadership Camp in July. Any high school junior living in the FreeState Electric Cooperative territory, who has a parent or guardian that is a member of the cooperative is eligible.
The top five finalists on the written portion of the competition will be invited to an interview with the youth tour coordinator. Following the interviews, we will name four winners who will receive all-expense-paid trips.
- Cooperative Youth Tour trip is June 18-25, 2020
- Cooperative Youth Leadership Camp is July 10-16, 2020
The fifth-place finisher will be named an alternate for either trip. The alternate would be asked to step in if another student was not able to attend their trip. These experiences are all-expenses-paid and will truly be the experiences of a lifetime for area youth.
