RVHS varsity softball team added a doubleheader vs Pleasant Ridge to their schedule on Tuesday after the rainout of their home tournament earlier in the season. The Panthers took full advantage of an additional night in front of their home crowd by beating the Rams in two run-rule games, 15-0 and 16-1.

Athena Broaddus started in the circle in game one and allowed no hits and no runs in three innings. She struck out seven and walked none. Madison Blackwood came on in relief and shutout the Rams in her one inning of pitching, giving up just one hit and striking out three.

The Panthers collected 12 hits in the rule-shortened game with Tyjha Henderson and Devon Rodewald each getting 3 hits. Sammy Klotz, Rodewald and Dazno Mills each stole multiple bases. RV had six stolen bases in the game.

The Panthers were impressive on defense with no errors. Dru Probst made the most plays with 10.

On offense, Rodewald drove in 7 runs on 3 hits, including a grand slam.

The second game was a repeat of the offense for the Panthers. Klotz and Henderson each had a 2-run home run. Stormy Lake added a triple that plated two runs. Overall the Panthers had 15 hits in the short game.

Blackwood started in the circle for RV. She allowed two hits and one run over three innings.

Next up the Panthers will travel to Seneca on Monday for the 3A Regional Tournament. They will face host Nemaha Central immediately following the 3 pm game. If they win, they will immediately face the winner of Sabetha vs Hiawatha Monday night.
